Unable to Brush Your Teeth After Every Meal-What Else Can You Do?

Brush teeth twice a day with excellent technique Brushing after every meal – I’ve run into people who brush after every meal, and their mouth isn’t that healthy. It’s usually because they don’t do a good job of brushing five times a day or however many times they brush.

How To Brush Teeth-Go for Excellence When Brushing!

I usually tell my patients that you have to do an excellent job when you brush.

If you’re brushing twice a day, in my opinion, and you’re doing an excellent job – I think that’s sufficient.

You don’t have to do it after every meal.

Warning For Those Who Eat Lots of Citrus Fruits

Now, if you’re eating acidic meals, a lot of citrus fruits  or a lot of sour candies,  you need to at least rinse your mouth out after eating.  Acidic foods and meals soften the enamel making it more prone to decay.  So rinse your mouth well after eating acidic foods.

But flossing and brushing your teeth twice a day is good.  Yes, I admit it. I’m twisting people’s arms just to floss once a day. But flossing is very important.

My thought is to go for the excellence. So I  tell patients to floss at least once a day,  and aim to brush teeth at least twice a day.
